Fact-Finding
June 27, 2006IT Research is one of the subjects I’m enrolled to for this semester.
Predictably, the subject requires us to do a research on a certain topic. A topic of our choice, gladly. For the past few days, me and others enrolled to the subject have been scribbling down probable subject matters. Revising a lot on titles, most of the times. Initial titles have been presented to our instructor already. Some were approved. Some, modified for improvement. And some, discarded. I was actually afraid of having my choice of topic discarded. ‘Cause I wasn’t sure if it was a good choice or if it was a practicable and practical choice. Luckily, it was approved.
Nanotechnology was the choice.
I always make it a point to like what I’m doing. From the minor things I do everyday, up to the major ones. School stuff, in particular. As we were told to look for a topic to research about, I thought of something I’m really interested in. That way, doing the whole research thing won’t necessarily be doing a requirement…it would be more on a personal exploration and adventure, instead.
Nanotechnology really amazes me. The whole miniaturization…creating-robots-as-small-as-atoms…technology-beyond-the-eye thing really drives me to find out more.
But nanotechnology is too wide an area. Since now, our teacher is making us move a notch higher by letting us select which particular area in our topic we’d like to focus on. Still gotta choose which particular nano field to pursue for reasearch. I’m thinking of medical aspects right now. The possibilities of aging reversal, destruction of cancer cells and other destructive cells…how they’re possible and their disadvantages to the individual and/or to the society, etc. etc.
I’m also thinking of moral issues regarding nanotechnology once it is implemented in society. Reverse aging, for one, is really a sensitive issue. How would this, and other sensitive nanotech matters jive with status quo? How would humanity adopt to changes presented by nanotech? Hmm…ano kaya?
Whew! I’ve got less than 24 hours to decide which particular area I’d be pursuing. Less than 24 hours to finalize my title for 2nd presentation, as well.
Ciao for now…
Gotta think. Hmm…
