They are Why We’re Here
August 11, 2007I just chatted with my friend a few minutes ago. She says they're celebrating her grandmother's birthday. My friend's grandma is now amazingly aged 90 years old. And even at that age, she still travels with her daughter, from the Philippines to California, and vice versa, every year. Sadly though, there are moments when she couldn't remember some people around her. I guess it comes with the age.
Unlike our usual practice here in Pinas, people in the States often admit their elderly loved ones in caring facilities who employ trusted caregivers to assist them in their daily routines. My friend is moving from California to San Francisco and so of course, they also plan to transfer her grandma to a center near their new home. I told my friend to make sure they check out nursing home ratings first so they'd be guided well in choosing the right home.
I think it's really important that we take good care of our elderly. They are, after all, a big reason why we exist in this world right now. They are why we're here. Even if we aren't with them every single day, I think it's very reassuring if we know they are in good hands.
It’s a Lady Thing
August 10, 2007I've seen this shampoo commercial wherein during the first part shows a model who brushes her hair and finds several strands tangled in it. I could so relate. I often see get those strands tangled in my brush too. It kinda worries me sometimes. The thought of sudden hairloss freaks me out. Poof!
Well, the web is a bucket of information. I sure will be able to find means to provide more effective solutions for this little hair dillema. It is, after all, every lady's most important assets. And taking good care of it is fundamentally an obvious thing we, ladies, must always do.
Showbiz Time
August 9, 2007Most people get their showbiz updates while being on the couch. I, on the other hand, who is busy with college life and loaded with a schedule who steals away my time for primetime TV, update myself via an even wider means which is, of course, the Internet.
I was once employed in an online tutorial company and I had this officemate who despised show business to the highest level. She's a Chinay who looked much more of a Chi than a nay. Because of this and because of the fact that she gets irritated at matters of showbiz , everyone teased her to be this now-famous Chinese-Cebuana who seems to have kept the public's attention for quite some time now. And well, as expected, she gets super duper irritated each time she was teased. You wouldn't find her browsing celebrity gossip blogs or websites of such nature.
I, however, do not mind being teased as being a look-alike of any of the pretty celebs around. Lol! Nah, I'm not that into showbiz. It's just that I enjoy watching lives of these glam people and learn from them in even the littlest of ways.
The Ever Evolving World
Being one of the millions of spectators of the showbiz industry, I have always found it amazing how the list of celebrities who has undergone rhinoplasty and other cosmetic surgery procedures shoot up over the years. I've seen the procedure done even on celebrities who didn't need such beautiful transformation. Has this become a trend of some sort in the world of show business?
After months of hiatus from being on the couch, I watched the local TV last Sunday and noticed some transformation on Sunday noontime show stars on the two biggest channels here in Pinas. There's no question on the reason for that. They thank Belo or Calayan almost every single chance they get, after all.
Well, this really is an evolving world with evolving people who doesn't only have evolving minds but evolving faces as well. Hmm…..nothing wrong with that….I guess.
After a Month
Last time I posted something here, it was the stil the 1st of June. Now, more than a month has passed by and so many things has gone on. I've been awfully busy with school, I now have a new set of eyeglasses, I've met new people, and the not-so-good part, I've gained weight. Hehe! Most people around me might not notice but yeah, I think my pants these days have been a little tighter than they were before.
I think it's because I've been hopping from one Cafe and restaurant to another during my free time at school, having food trips while doing some school stuff in my lappie. Well, that shouldn't be surprising. Food trips have always been something I am into. And speaking of food trips, I've been surfing the web looking for restaurants, recipes, anything at all about food. (Geez, I should be a little careful with this…I wouldn't wanna be back to my chubby days..lol!).
In this huge bucket of food websites, I came across one which showcased San Diego restaurants and found them interesting. I found lots of interesting stuff like this place which served food for optimal nutrition. All the good food minus the unwanted calories. Really cool! My cousin actually just moved to San Diego with her husband and kids and I sure will tell her about this.
